ABOUT US

The Sloan Biotechnology Industry Center will focus on understanding what drives competitiveness within the U.S. biotechnology industry.

Mission

The center's mission is to provide strategic, data-driven information to biotechnology executives, policymakers, and other decision makers to improve the competitive advantage of biotechnology firms.

It is our goal that we become a home for high-impact research on the forces driving the competitiveness of the U.S. biotechnology industry.

About Sloan Industry Centers

A startup grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation helped establish the center in 2004.

The Sloan Biotechnology Industry Center at the University of Maryland joins an elite group of university-based research facilities, each focusing on a critical U.S. industrial sector.

In the research world, the Sloan Industry Centers enjoy a strong reputation for thoughtful analysis and highly relevant application of findings to industry. The centers apply a unique hands-on approach, in which highly trained, interdisciplinary teams work closely with companies to discuss issues, collect data and develop solutions to critical industry challenges.
